Ahead of the upcoming UN Security Council session, Serbian Justice Minister Nela Kuburović and Chief Prosecutor of the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT) Serge Brammertz met in New York earlier today.
Minister Kuburović and Prosecutor Brammertz agreed that Serbia and the Office of the MICT Prosecutor had excellent cooperation, which was also pointed out in the MICT Prosecutor's new six-monthly report.
Prosecutor Brammertz welcomed the organization of the Regional War Crimes Prosecutors' Conference, which - beside representatives of the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor's Office - was attended by prosecutors from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro, as well as by the MICT Chief Prosecutor. Held in Belgrade last May, the conference was aimed at improving the effectiveness of war crimes prosecutions through the enhancement of direct cooperation and exchange of relevant information between regional prosecution services.
Finally, Prosecutor Brammerz reaffirmed the commitment of his Office to continuous support to its counterpart in Belgrade through specialized training programmes for OWCP deputy prosecutors.
